Diesel repair in Clovis, CA
Cummins, Power Stroke and Duramax pickups, and the light commercial vehicles people around Clovis and Fresno actually work out of. Hard starting, loss of power, smoke, injectors and turbos — diagnosed on the lift in our own bay. Diagnostic time is billed at $125 per hour, and we tell you what we found before we touch anything else.
Diagnosed, not guessed
Diesel faults get blamed on injectors far more often than injectors are actually at fault. We find out first.
Pickups and work vehicles
Cummins, Power Stroke and Duramax pickups, plus light commercial vans and trucks that fit in the bay.
We know it is your income
If the truck earns its keep, downtime costs more than the repair. We tell you the realistic turnaround up front.
In the bay at 1222 Barstow
Diesel work happens on the lift, in the shop. We do not do mobile or roadside truck repair.
Common diesel jobs and what they run
These are market ranges from RepairPal — some specific to the Fresno area, some national averages, and each card states which — not a quote on your truck. Diesel parts prices move, so treat these as the shape of the number rather than the number.
Diesel injector replacement
We quote this one after we have looked at it — call us and we will tell you what it takes on your vehicle.
What moves the price
- one injector or a full set
- engine family
- whether contaminated fuel took the pump too
Sounds like rough idle, hard starting when cold, white smoke, knocking under load
Diesel turbocharger replacement
We quote this one after we have looked at it — call us and we will tell you what it takes on your vehicle.
What moves the price
- new, remanufactured or repaired unit
- whether debris went downstream into the engine
Sounds like loss of power, whining or whistling, blue smoke, boost warning
If the truck is how you earn
A van or a work truck off the road costs you more per day than most of the repairs on this page. So we tell you the realistic turnaround before you commit, not after — including when a part has to come from out of the area and that turnaround is going to be days rather than hours. If the honest answer is that another shop can get you moving sooner, we would rather say so than sit on your vehicle.

Diesel FAQ
- What diesel engines do you work on?
- Cummins, Power Stroke and Duramax pickups are the bulk of what comes in, along with light commercial vans and trucks. Call us with what you have and we will tell you honestly whether it is a job for us.
- My diesel is hard to start when cold — what is that?
- It has several possible causes: glow plugs, injectors, fuel delivery, or compression. They cost very different amounts to put right, which is why we diagnose it rather than quoting a guess over the phone.
- How much is diagnosis on a diesel?
- Diagnostic time is billed at $125 per hour, and we tell you what we found before we touch anything else.
- Do you come out to the truck?
- No. Diesel work needs the lift and the tools, so it happens in our bay at 1222 Barstow Ave. Mobile and roadside truck work is a different business.
- The truck will not move — can you still take it?
- Shako Towing, our sister company at the same address, can bring it in — call them on (559) 270-5796. Shako Towing runs Mon–Sat 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM, closed Sunday.
- What if the repair costs more than the truck is worth?
- Same answer as with any vehicle here: we will tell you, and we will make you an offer on it if that is the better outcome for you. We buy diesels too.
Everything else we repair is on the main repair page, or call (559) 420-8300. Truck will not move under its own power? Our sister company, Shako Towing, handles the tow.
